Digital Strategy

Charting membership growth.

NNPBC was looking to grow their membership by engaging and empowering nurses and nurse practitioners across BC. To achieve this, their website needed to position the organization as a trusted leader and clearly communicate the value of membership to their diverse community.

The new site also had to be an authentic representation of different types of nurses at various stages in their careers – from students, to active professionals, and retired nurses. That meant incorporating a representative variety of nurse voices, stories, and faces.

The complex and overwhelming navigation structure on the previous NNPBC site was a major source of frustration. We zeroed in on a greatly simplified architecture with clear pathways for different types of nursing professionals, directing them to practical and relevant resources. The new architecture prioritizes member benefits and teases exclusive content that is only available to members.

UX/UI Design

Authentic visuals are vital.

NNPBC had recently undertaken a rebrand and was looking to reflect this refreshed aesthetic on the new website. Their new brand ethos is all about creating a confident presence with a grounded approach that appeals to the needs and aspirations of nurses.

Building upon the new brand, we developed a digital style guide for application of sitewide UI elements. The new brand colours are used strategically to balance vibrancy and accessibility, while drawing attention to key calls-to-action. Rounded design elements give the site a contemporary, welcoming appearance complemented by a flexible modular content system that delivers a consistent experience across all screen sizes.

Overall the new website’s dynamic design creates a professional yet approachable style with the leadership, warmth, and accessibility that conveys credibility and trust.

Digital Style Guide

Creating a healthy, growing content system.

NNPBC’s website represents a gateway to professional growth, trusted guidance, peer connection, and the collective voice of nurses in BC. To support NNPBC in this endeavor, we helped craft fresh, web-friendly content for select high-impact pages, and migrated remaining content into the new platform.

We imported a large amount of new and existing content, reorganizing it to fit the updated site structure and support the goals of the new design. This included restructuring various resources and key program pages. As part of our pre-launch training, we equipped NNPBC’s content team with the tools to manage and optimize content going forward.

Development

An evolving hub of member value.

Creating a turnkey platform with repeatable templates, patterns and blocks was central to our development approach. Leveraging WordPress’ native block editor, this allows NNPBC’s team to build new pages and design components with ease and confidence.

NNPBC’s resource hub is a major focal point of the site. It features intuitive search and filters for topics, types, and nursing designations. On the backend, it’s now a straightforward process for NNPBC to add new resources and tag them with the appropriate categories.

The new website also features a filterable job board, along with a directory of courses and conferences, and feeds for news and events. These are all easily updateable to keep the site’s content current and valuable for members. For membership management, the NNPBC website integrates with Microsoft Dynamics 365.
